General comments

A place where the entire group can share information, making what we've learned and tried accessible to everyone.

  • Kathy Sheldon - GCast - students call in (1-888-65-GCAST) put in the code (ID & PIN) for Book Club and leave audiocasts to share about the books they're reading.
  • Lisa Overton - podcast as a class to get started at Pod-o-Matic - http://msovertonroom14.googlepages.com - students did all editing, revising and publishing together using Interwrite Pad.
  • Kathee Santiago - http://pantherlab.googlepages.com - see Third Grade (Build Your Own Self.com) and Teachers link ; Gaggle.net for email should be a safer way because of teacher control
  • Lisa Haag - WebWise Kids (webwisekids.org) games & curriculum - "Missing" - Internet safety $150 for a kit; must purchase training program from California; Greg & Sue have copies of Missing for preview; there are other games for different grade levels ; Steve Dembo's "The New Permanent Record" -
  • Matthew Cook - SMARTBoard Lesson Activity Toolkit add-on for SMART http://juhl.wikispaces.com

  • Top Ten Web 2.0 Sites (Steve Dembo wikispace) - Wayne RESA is using the 23 Things model - each person takes responsibility for his/her own learning and submits reflections to the blog on how these might be used effectively
  • Brian Jones - Recipes4Success/Pics4Learning - tech4learning.com; 21st Century Model Classroom ($100 laptop)
  • Sue Summerford iPod as Mega VCR: Media Libraries in Your Pocket - http://DiscoveryEdSpeakersBureau.com - see notes in document below
  • Greg Marten - SIG PD held a pre-conference session on web 2.0 tools for professional development. Instructional Technology consultants Jackie Campbell and Carol Meyer from Wayne RESA presented information about web 2.0 tools for PD by using web 2.0 tools. Anyone can check out and poke around in the training wiki that they created for the MACUL session. They have also created non-traditional web 2.0 PD training for educators in Wayne County after studying "23 Things" training models created by professionals in other locales (see links section below).  Wayne RESA's "23 Things" PD site is under development but open for viewing.
